The Influence of CO2 Injection into Manure as a Pretreatment Method for Increased Biogas Production

Manure is considered a by-product or organic waste in cattle, pig, chicken other animal breeding farms, which can be valuable product as compost feedstock for biogas production. The production of biomethane from always copes with the formation carbon dioxide (CO2) by-product. This CO2 may recycled through pretreatment to maximize homogeneity, and improve yield quality. CO2-pretreatment process cow manure (CoM), (ChM) pig (PM) was performed continuously fed agitated reactor at 25 °C temperature ambient barometric pressure. Biogas composition exploration were an anaerobic continuous feeding digester controlled mesophilic (37 °C) environmental conditions. pretreated PM, CoM ChM yielded 234.62 ± 10.93 L/kgVS, 82.01 3.19 L/kgVS 374.53 9.27 volatile solids, respectively. CoM, PM achieved higher over untreated by +33.78%, +28.76% +21.78%, digestion tested feedstocks stable, pH substrate kept steady 7.77 0.02, 8.07 0.02 8.09 during all experiment. oxidation-reduction potential after within optimal range (?255 39.0 ?391 16.8 mV) digestion. also had positive effect on energy generated feedstock, showing greatest increase, 2.38 MJ/kg 3.06 MJ/kg.
